Part 3 - Ohio to Michigan

We thought it would be appropriate to eat at a restaurant named after one of our friends.

The Half He-Man was off the hook.

Sasquatch.

Quaid.. Start.. The.. Reactor..

Anne Arbor, Michigan.

Redmon's apartment.

Chris had some pretty ridiculous things in his apartment.

Introduce yourself.

The Iron Lung.

This pool table kept us occupied most of the time we were at Chris's.

Get on your sticks.

Honest Abe.

Chris took us on a little tour.

Part 2 - Ohio

This was our camp that we set up at 3:30 in the morning. After 9 hours of driving and 4 hours of sleep, we were awake and ready to hit the town of Lakewood.

A milder version of "Tent City" if you will. The sketch-factor was high, but we made it out of the tents with no problems. No cops or park rangers said anything. We got a few weird looks from some local runners passing by, but that was about it.

A couple of zombies in Lakewood.

I don't think anything beats having a skatepark to yourself at 9:30 in the morning.

The park was pretty fun, regardless of the heat.

This little corner pocket hip/bank got thrashed pretty hard.

We stopped in at West Side Skateshop after we skated and cruised to the town for a little bit. Big thanks to Brian for giving us the heads up on some spots and a few local bars. Check out his shop: http://www.westsideskates.net

Sticker kit on the rental.. very nice, how much?

We walked down this little cliff at the edge of the park to find this little cove that you could walk out onto. It was pretty tight.

It was sort of like our own little moss-infested spa.

Rich is pointing out a rock that nobody will probably ever be able to stand on.

Rich getting a closer look at Paul.

Paul getting a closer look at Cleveland.

Cleveland Rocks!

Lakewood, Ohio.. An interesting town to say the least.

So, we come back from chillen on the rocks and we find a bunch of kids trying to get this little boat down this cliff. It was the most random thing i've ever seen. They had their shit legit too, they even had ropes and a dolly system to get it down the cliff.. a bunch of smart young dudes.

These dudes were really psyched on their boat. I remember one of them talking about celebrating with a Corona and a cigar.. now that's what I call celebrating. The launch of the boat couldn't have been any better without the techno music blasting out of this one kid's headphones.. it was such a crazy mix of styles amongst this group of kids.

Well done gentleman.

Goodies in the mail!

I came home to this nice surprise today. Andrew Nedimeyer's new video "Hey, Buddy". This video features skating from Cesar Fernandez, Will Durham, Derek Percoski, Chris Blake, Chad Robertson, Rodney Macinnes, Ryan O'Connor, Sterling Wright, and A.J. Burnett as well as a friends section and a Mesh Skatepark section.

Go here for the trailer for the video: http://derekpercoski.com/videos/HEY_BUDDY!!.mov

Part 1 - New York to Ohio

The trip started off at Paul's crib where I arrived to accompany him in watching the end of "One Crazy Summer" while we discussed some destinations and details of our trip. Soon after the movie had ended, Rich arrived and we threw down a little bit of "Conan", we watched some classic scenes from the movie and loaded up the rental car. With little room to spare, we set off to Ronkonkoma Train Station to pick up John Richardson. John got off the train a little roughed up from the previous night's adventure. Apparently he had a crazy, hung-over, 3 mile walk through Toms River and over a no-shoulder bridge to start the trip off the day.. interesting.. Seaside Heights rules though, we learned 6 days later that all of his stories about trife-ass people, backyard miniramps and guido's driving 100 mph across that bridge were true indeed. With John loaded up in the car, we hit the road with high hopes.

We stopped after a few hours of driving in Pennsylvania to get some food. The Roadhouse had some pretty interesting bathroom graffiti. Such gems as "Mac Tools Rule!", "Farmer boys like it in the ass", and "Time is a rope, better hang on to it". As well as some other crazy shit I can't even remember.. but definitely some outlandish stuff that was most excellent. Don't eat there by the way, unless you're in the mood for greased up french fries or their "homemade meatloaf". It was one of those types of places where you walk in, the music stops, and everyone in the place looks at you.

After we ate at the Roadhouse, we hit the road. Caught a pretty nice sunset. We got geared up for the long drive ahead.

Drove all the way through the night.. Large Marge was in full effect.

We finally arrived at the Lakewood Park around 3:30 a.m. and set up "camp".

Kuato Returns

We're back from the trip! It was a very successful 6-day mission. On this trip we learned that we can survive in some of the random, thickest, lava-infested cities in the country. Big thanks to Chris Redden and Robert Tepiak for putting us up for 4 out of the 6 days of the trip. Part 1 of the photos from the trip will be posted tomorrow night and the montage should take a little while to be put together (due to processing time of the super 8 film). Maybe we'll post some random throwaway clips in the meantime..

See you tomorrow!

Ghost

We're leaving for Ohio this afternoon. If you're going to be at Lakewood Skatepark outside of Cleveland tomorrow morning, you'll definitely catch us there shredding at early hours. After that we'll be lurking around downtown until the following morning or so. The Chicago destination is going to be roughly between Tuesday night and Thursday. Friday and Saturday we might possibly be blessed with the presence of Chris Redden. Time will tell.

See you in a week or so.

Updates as the trip goes on? We'll see!

T-minus one week..

1 week until Kuato and crew hit the road for the mid-west. I asked Paul what we should bring on the trip. See what he thought had more importance over other things. (highlighted in purple)
